A Load Prediction Based Virtual Cell Breathing Scheme for LTE-A System

Load balancing is one of the key targets of the self-organizing network (SON) in LTE-A system. Virtual Cell breathing can virtually change wireless network cell size to adjust system load among system cells. This paper proposes a Load Prediction based Virtual Cell Breathing (LPVCB) scheme for system load balancing. By using system load prediction to reduce the influence of new load access and controlling system handover parameter, the cell individual offset(CIO), to transfer system load among cells, load balancing can be achieved more accurately. Simulation results show that it can improve the system performance.
