An Approach to Encoding In the Presence of Subjectivity

This paper proposes an approach to introducing subjectivity in communication involving human factors. Mainly it is assumed that the receiver in the usual communication chain “sender-channel-receiver” is composed of both a physical device and a human operator who has a prior partial knowledge of the general theme of the message. A preliminary analysis of natural languages provides tbe concepts of subjective entropies for the syntax and the semantics respectively, which are expressed by equations similar to tbe so-called Lorentz equations in tbe special relativity. Then the concept of transmission or transinformation in the presence of subjectivity is derived, which we furtber apply to the problem of encoding in the presence of subjectivity. The corresponding code is realized by means of the Faddeev equation, and comparisions with the classic result when there is no subjectivity is done.
