An object-oriented programming paradigm for synchronous manufacturing

Abstract This paper describes the development of a distributed decision support system using an object-oriented programming style. The purpose of the DSS is to optimize the productivity of a two stage, multiple facility manufacturing process. Such a process is typical of many companies that have a single facility for initial manufacture of components and several independently operated facilities for final assembly. A description of the system design and an object-based representation of the DSS is given. The benefits from using object-oriented programming in development are emphasized.
