Interoperable wireless sensor network model using multi-agent-based middleware

In this paper, a novel interoperable wireless sensor network (WSN) model using multi-agent-based middleware are proposed. This model provided generalized frameworks to address some critical issues existed in the WSN such as interoperability, time synchronization, power management and distributed computation. To address these issues, we developed a model that was based IEEE 1451 and IEEE 1588 standards to address sensor interoperability issue and adjust time synchronization issue respectively. To implement distributed computation in WSN, a multi-agent-based middleware was integrated into the model. It allows us to build a WSN system with efficient parallel processing capability and higher reliability of system operations. Moreover, we developed a unique mathematical framework to derive optimal sleep duty cycle using a reliability model referred to as generalize access structure congestion (GGC) system [1]. Using these analysis results, we can determine an optimal power management schemes by computing an efficient duty cycle in any multi agent-based WSN.
