Solid papillary‐cystic carcinoma of the pancreas with portal vein tumour thrombus

This unusual tumour is an important differential in the diagnosis of complex pancreatic neoplasms. The majority occur in the body and tail of the pancreas and, despite their size, resection is often possible and offers long-term control of the disease. Just over 300 cases have been reported worldwide, 1–3 but reports in older patients with vascular involvement are rare 4 and no previous case with direct vascular invasion has been identified.
