An innovative use of a nonwoven geotextile: The Pennsylvania DOT's use of nonwoven geotextiles for an emergency highway restoration cut the project's cost by almost $200,000

This case study highlights the repair of Pennsylvania State Route 54 using a nonwoven geotextile. The needle-punched geotextile was used as a compaction aid, drainage medium, and reinforcement for side slopes. After appropriate testing, the geotextile was placed, reducing the effective drainage path and consolidation time. A significant cost savings was realized as well.
