3-phase step-up resonant DC-DC converter for medium power applications

This paper describes a 3-phase DC-DC resonant converter for medium or high power applications. The converter characteristics during discontinuous and continuous operation modes are derived. A design procedure is given for component sizing and application examples are shown for the connection of two different types of wind turbines to a medium voltage DC bus. A preliminary evaluation of the converter switching losses for the wind turbine applications is shown.
