Unilateral provoked bronchial asthma in man.

Ventilatory and volumetric changes during provoked asthma have been studied by several authors, using a variety of methods such as spirometry, compliance measurements, and nitrogen washout with oxygen. During an asthmatic attack the effort necessary to maintain sufficient ventilation is greater than normal, owing to the increased bronchial resistance.
