A method for detecting impact in motor vehicles with at least one body sound generating means

It is presented a method for crash detection for motor vehicles and a corresponding impact detection device in which two structure-borne sound vibrations are generated with at least one body sound generating means upon impact at least, wherein the structure-borne sound vibrations also are each a function of the impact velocity and distinguishable from one another, these structural vibrations detected by the sensor and the resulting impact velocity is determined.
