Developing of Stand-Alone Power System Simulation Model

In last two decades, the importance of stand-alone power systems has increased. No matter, if the system is a small mobile application like a smart phone or a large stand-alone house system, a simple simulation can be used for power flow control proposal. A simple power system supplied by photovoltaic module is proposed in this paper. Photovoltaic energy is a renewable source of electrical energy with constantly improving qualities. It is a clean, non-fossil and maintenance free option. Generated energy supplies resistive load via dc-dc converter. Maximum power point tracker (MPPT) is used to maximize the usable power output from the photovoltaic module, which depends on conditions like solar irradiance, temperature or cloudiness. Incremental Conductance is the one of most used MPPT techniques. It is based on comparison between the incremental conductance (∆I / ΔV) and the instantaneous conductance (I / V). This simple method is improved by adding a second step, which allows faster achievement of maximum power point during environmental condition changes. Proposed simple power system model is simulated in Matlab/Simulink.
