The magnus expansion for the damped harmonic oscillator

Abstract It is shown that he time-evolution operator for the damped harmonic oscillator can be written as the exponential of an anti-Hermitean operator provided t is close enough to zero. The range of applicability of the Magnus expansion is discussed.
