Influence analysis of wind power generation on the characteristic of power system frequency

The output of variable speed constant frequency (VSCF) wind turbines is decoupled with system frequency and it will affect the frequency characteristic when large-scale wind power integrated. In order to assess this influence, mathematical function of equivalent inertia time constant and droop coefficient of the power system with wind power penetration were deduced separately in this paper. It indicate that with the increase of wind power penetration, the equivalent inertia time constant decreased and the equivalent droop coefficient enlarged, which will result a large deviation of transient and steady frequency when load disturbance happened. Accuracy of the theoretical analysis was proved by a simplified mode of wind power integrated system based on Matlab/Simulink.
