Biosystematic study of the genus Limonium (Plumbaginaceae) in the Aegean area (Greece). II: Limonium hierapetrae Rech. fil. from Kriti island

Summary Limonium hierapetrae Rech, fil., a species endemic of Kriti island is studied. Information on its chromosome number (2n = 43), karyotype and reproduction mechanism are given for the first time. On the basis of the results obtained L. hierapetrae is a hybridogenous taxon apomictically reproduced. The morphological relationships of this species with the closely related L. ocymifolium (Poiret) O. Kuntze are also discussed.
