Solution of the near‐far problem for spread spectrum interference with unknown spreading code

Spread spectrum communication systems, especially direct spread spectrum systems, control the transmission power and use a mutual correlation canceler for solving the near-far problem. The mutual correlation canceler is very effective because it can remove interfering signals based on the a-priori known spreading code of the interfering wave. However, when the spreading code is unknown, the canceler cannot be applied. Therefore, this paper applies the unknown spreading code estimation method used in the mutual correlation canceler, and proposes a system that can be used to solve the near-far problem. The proposed system is shown to be effective through a computer simulation. © 1997 Scripta Technica, Inc. Electron Comm Jpn Pt 1, 80(8), 50–58, 1997
