Plenoptic Particle Streak Velocimetry ( pPSV ) : 3 D 3 C fluid flow measurement from light fields with a single plenoptic camera

In this paper we present a novel technique of measuring 3D3C fluid flow with a single plenoptic camera. The camera employs the so-termed Plenoptic 2.0 principle with a microlens array outside the focal point of the main lens. High accuracy is achieved by long integration times of the camera, leading to the visualization of particle streaks. These can be reconstructed from the recoded light field. We tested our approach on a convection driven turbulent flow. The measurement technique captures the fluid flow very well. Our measurements indicate an accuracy of better than 1% relative error.
