Transplantation in value‐based care for patients with renal failure

"Integrating kidney transplantation into value-based care for people with renal failure" (1) advocates expanding the Comprehensive ESRD Care (CEC) initiative to include patients with advanced CKD and kidney transplant recipients. An expanded CEC would essentially function as an ESRD Accountable Care Organization (ACO) to share savings and risk for the ESRD care continuum, and, according to the authors, provide large dialysis organizations financial incentive to use savings to improve care.
