New developments in enterprise modelling using CIMOSA

Enterprise modelling is a crucial step both for Enterprise Engineering and Enterprise Integration. It is concerned with representation and analysis methods for design engineering and automation of enterprise operations at various levels of details (e.g., coarse modelling, reengineering, detailed design, performance evaluation, or implementation description, to name a few). It applies to the modelling of material, information and control flows of the enterprise from a function, information, resource or organisation viewpoint. This tutorial paper provides a state-of-the-art on current practices and identified problems for enterprise modelling on the basis of the CIMOSA languages. Possible extensions in terms of modelling business processes, technical and human resources and organisation structures are presented. Relevant implementation features are also briefly discussed for modelling and simulation tools.
