Design of slow-speed slotless SmCo permanent magnet synchronous generator for wind applications

This paper presents the analysis of electrical parameters and design process of a novel slow-speed slotless permanent magnet synchronous generator. Main design criteria and the design process itself are explained. FEM calculations are carried out to check the validity of the analytical model and suitability of the chosen magnets to the generator. Test results of the prototype generator are analyzed and compared to the calculated values. Necessity of further analysis for the industrial use of such generators is presented.
