Latest Advancement for Detection Methods of Mycotoxins in Traditional Chinese Medicine

Abstract Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites produced by certain fungi, which can trigger cancers, deformity and mutation, and are greatly harmful to cells, kidney, reproductive system and immune system. During harvesting, processing, transportation and storage of the plants, Chinese materia medica (CMM) can be easily contaminated by mycotoxins. Not only can it influence the quality and efficacy of CMM, but also do great harm to human body. Therefore, it seems important and necessary to establish sensitive and accurate methods to detect the mycotoxins in CMM. This paper reviewed the advancement of detection methods for mycotoxins in CMM to provide some references for related studies.
