The present invention relates to a method for controlling a display (1) of a combination display instrument for a motor vehicle, in which driven in at least one operating state, the display (1) so that two analog round instruments (2, 3) side by side as in the display (1 ) are shown to be adjacent each other so that between the two round instruments (2, 3) does not retain any display area for displaying information and within the round instruments (2, 3) each display areas (4, 5) are formed for displaying information. Further, the present invention relates to a combination display instrument for a motor vehicle with a display (1) and a control unit for controlling the display on the display, which is controlled according to the method of the invention.
