Artificial Organs 2008: a year in review.

In this review, the articles published in 2008 are summarized. As the official journal of The International Federation for Artificial Organs, The International Faculty for Artificial Organs, and The International Society for Rotary Blood Pumps, Artificial Organs continues in the original mission of its founders “to foster communications in the field of artificial organs on an international level.” Artificial Organs continues to publish developments and clinical applications of artificial organ technologies in this broad and expanding field of organ Replacement, Recovery, and Regeneration from all over the world. We are very grateful to our authors for presenting their works in Artificial Organs. We offer a very special thanks to our reviewers who give so generously of their time and expertise to review, critique, and most importantly to provide meaningful suggestions to the authors’ works, for many of whom English is not their native tongue. Each year in our December issue, a personal acknowledgment is made to our reviewers. We also express our appreciation to our Publisher,Wiley-Blackwell for their expert attention and support. As you read this review be aware that it provides but a brief reflection of the worldwide knowledge intended to improve and better human life and the progress yet to be made in the application of artificial organ technologies.
