Electronics in modern automobiles is growing exponentially from the past few years. During the 1950s, only 1–2% electronics were used in automobiles, but now it has reached 40% due to their advantages over mechanical system in some of the automobile parts. Adaptive cruise control does not only set the speed but also changes the speed according to the distance between vehicles. The collision warning system with automatic braking helps the driver to drive the vehicles at high traffic area. Subsystems are implemented using ATmega328P controller and ultrasonic sensor which is used to measure the distance between vehicles. LEDs and buzzers are used to give alert signals to the driver during collision. If the driver does not respond then the automatic braking system applies the brakes automatically. The steering input to the system is provided through an Android application where Bluetooth model HC-05 helps to build communication between the system and android application. The system functions according to the control inputs from the controller unit which drives the DC motors that are connected to the vehicle’s wheels. The performance and safety measures of the proposed system are investigated through simulations and implementation using driving scenarios.
