1999 Prize for Achievement in Information-Based Complexity

Professor Erich Novak, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, is the first winner of the Prize. He was cited for ``numerous outstanding contributions to information-based complexity.'' The Awards Committee consisted of Joseph F. Traub and Henryk Woz niakowski. The award was presented at the Award Ceremony during the Foundations of Computational Mathematics Conference in Oxford, England, in July 1999.
