Analysis of Electrostatic Measurements on Non-Conducting Webs

Abstract Measurements of the electric field and surface potential of a non-conductive web are quite common in industry. The interpretation of these measurements are among the most misunderstood. The objective of this paper is to give the reader a simplified understanding of what occurs during the taking of an electrostatic measurement on a moving or stationary web. By understanding the physics a logical procedure for making measurements follows.
