Dr D.S. Tyagi was an architect of agricultural price policy in India and had made enormous contributions in achieving this goal. He was associated with the Commission on Agricultural Costs and Prices since 1973 and rose to the position of its Chairman by dint of his devotion, hardwork and brilliance. The cause of Indian farmer was very close to his heart and he fought throughout his life for it. He wrote extensively on the problems of Indian agriculture, particularly those having a bearing on price policy. He died in 1992 when he was, at fifty, in the prime of his fruitful and productive career.
