Algorithm of Accurate Two-Terminal Fault Location on Power Line

The influence of transmission line parameters is given,which shows that the accuracy of the transmission line parameter is an important factor that impacts precision of fault location.Based on the distribution parameter model of transmission line,a least-squares adaptive algorithm for fault location based on parameter estimation of transmission line is proposed.Using the data provided by fault equipped at both ends of the transmission line,the on-line parameter estimation of the transmission line can be carried out and the position where fault occurs can be determined.Therefore,the influence of inaccuracy or variation of the line parameters,which is caused by practical factors on site,can be overcome.The results of digital simulation test and operation in power system show that high accuracy of fault location can be obtained by use of this proposed algorithm.
