Annotating Characters' Emotions in Drama

In this paper, we describe a methodology for annotating characters’ emotions in narrative media. Given the semantic annotation of the story, the emotional state of its characters is inferred through SWRL rules that encode the emotion appraisal process. In order to exemplify the model and test the emotional states generated by the SWRL module, we resort to a well-known dramatic situation and we compare the generated emotional states with the hand-coded annotation by drama experts.
