A hardware implementation of BCMP mobility protocol for IPv6 networks

This paper presents the results of the development and evaluation of the IP mobility protocol BRAIN candidate mobility management protocol (BCMP) using a real IPv6 network environment. BCMP is an intra domain mobility protocol i.e. it handles user mobility within an administrative domain. The protocol setup is based on a focal point in the network, called anchor point, from whereon dynamic tunnel establishment to MH's points-of-attachment is deployed. We show all protocol stages and their impact during the communication phases of MHs in the network including the logins, packet transfers and handovers. The work presented in this paper is part of the research conducted in the EU sponsored project MIND.
