A Novel VLC Attocell Network Structure Using Superimposed Optical-OFDM

One of the most important adverse effects in indoor visible light communication (VLC) networks is co-channel interference (CCI). In this paper, a new network design based on superimposed optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (O-OFDM) is proposed, which can effectively mitigate the CCI and increase the average spectral efficiency. The proposed structure can also greatly improve the overall system power efficiency while ensuring the indoor lighting quality. The performance of the proposed scheme is analyzed in detail. The signal-to-noiseratio (SNR), lighting quality, spectral and power efficiency of the system are studied based on the considerations of the important parameters of the network.
