The design of the infrared beamline at the Australian Synchrotron

Abstract The Australian synchrotron is currently under construction in Melbourne, Australia. An infrared (IR) beamline has been included in the initial suite of beamlines. This paper will describe the present state of the design of the IR beamline. A unique mirror system has been designed to facilitate the extraction of radiation in the wavelength range 0.5–100 μm, and a novel system has been devised to enable the separation of the bending magnet and edge components of the synchrotron radiation.
