The invention discloses an automatic continuous laying operation method for large-diameter pipelines and an operating robot. The operation method comprises the following steps: pipe fittings are detected and grabbed; then slope machining of the pipe fittings is carried out; welding end faces of the current pipe fitting and a previous pipe fitting are matched; then the pipe fittings are lowered, and the two pipe fittings are finely tuned and fixedly connected; and the finally, the two pipe fittings are welded. The operating robot comprises a platform, a main frame, an operating room, a navigation subsystem, a pipe fitting grabbing and conveying subsystem, a pipe fitting end face preprocessing subsystem, an on-line measuring subsystem, a pipe fitting supporting subsystem, a welding and quality inspection subsystem and a control system. The operation method is scientific and reasonable, the efficiency is high, and the welding effect for the pipe fittings is excellent; and according to the operating robot, the automation degree is high; few operators are used; the labor intensity is low; the working efficiency is high; the laying period is short; and the laying cost is low.
