Stripping Reactions and the Structure of Light and Intermediate Nuclei

A reduced width connecting two nuclear levels contains information about the structure of the states involved. Techniques are described whereby such information can be cast into useable form: the formalism so developed is then applied to an analysis of stripping widths. The various kinds of information about the structure of nuclei which can be obtained from an analysis of stripping widths are reviewed and what is known about the single-particle reduced widths is collected and summarized. A number of experiments of particuiar interest for future study are discussed. (W.D.M.)
