IMPACT OF MICROCOMPUTERS IN TRANSPORTATION AND LOGISTICS IN THE MARITIMES

This paper outlines the potential for increased efficiency and cost effectiveness in the field of transportation and logistics through the use of microcomputers. An overview of some present applications of microcomputers in Atlantic Canada, in a transportation context, is then presented. Discussion with those involved indicates that the 'microcomputer revolution' has not yet made its mark on the industry, but inroads are evident.
