User needs analysis for automated urban transport systems - A qualitative approach

Private car dependency has led to degradation of urban areas, environmental concerns and social exclusion. Automated urban transport systems (AUTS), which are already used for targeted applications, have the potential to provide more sustainable and social-inclusive mobility. This paper investigates user requirements for AUTS. An analysis framework was developed to establish application areas and user groups involved in decision-making, planning, operating and using AUTS. Based on this framework market research techniques have been used to obtain responses from the identified user groups.
