Monitoring tests on the impacts of the compacted subgrade vibration on the surrounding environment

The paper is devoted to a monitoring test of the impact of the compacted subgrade vibrations caused by the road construction rollers on the surrounding environment. As is often the case, road rollers are widely used in the civil engineering projects of different roadways, therefore causing serious impacts of vibration on the surrounding buildings and people's regular living conditions. To study this problem,we have done a monitoring experimental monitoring test in a compacted subgrade construction site to measure how the vibrations of the road rollers are likely to impact the surrounding environment, and collected the monitoring data including the vibration strength, velocity and acceleration. The analysis of the compacted subgrade monitoring data shows that the peak vibration acceleration declines quickly with the increase of the rollers' traveling distance. And the original data analysis software has been used to analyze the roller's performance in a nonlinear regression manner, which reveals that the attenuation formula is:a = 1657. 85R- 1. 1. It is on this basis that we have analyzed the impact of velocity, frequency, and duration of the compacted subgrade vibration on the surrounding buildings and found that the vibration frequency and velocity have less impact on the buildings, whereas the vibration duration tends to have a stronger impact on them, for,if the roller moves at a vibration frequency over 10 Hz or more, the natural frequency of the surrounding buildings would have to suffer a vibration frequency around 5 Hz,Therefore, from the point of view of vibration frequency, the resonance effects can not damage any houses nor other buildings, but according to the relation of vibration and amplitude of continuous vibration and discontinuous vibration, under the conditions of the same vibration frequency, the velocity may still stay within the permissible range even if the roller vibration amplitude is kept at 4 /5 times of blasting, because the main effects of vibration duration is confined to the reaction of structure that may exceed its elastic limit and the strength is likely to get lost quickly. Lastly of all, when the analysis goes on from the point of view of Z vibration level and seismic intensity, the calculated results indicate that the buildings' Z vibration level accounts for a vibration frequency between 77 to 105 dB,the impact strength of the vibration acceleration can be much greater than the national environmental standards and likely to impact the surrounding residence and human health. Referring to the strength of the seismic intensity,it shows that the strength can be as high as grade Ⅴ of the seismic intensity to the buildings and the people living in,which even tends to cause the door seams loosening, the decorative materials, such as the plaster falling off the wall. And,that is why we propose that, since the residential buildings are mainly affected by the vibrations of the heavy rollers, the way of reducing the vibration frequency is to control the impact of the vibration by a way of digging up a vibration attenuation ditch, which is expected to play a beneficial effect on the vibration control.
