Chaos control of permanent magnet synchronous motor via second order sliding mode

This paper proposes a sliding mode control strategy aiming at the complex chaotic behavior of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The chaotic behaviors of the PMSM will impact the stability of the drive system and deteriorate the operational performance. In order to control the undesirable chaos in PMSM, a controller is established based on second order sliding mode control. Furthermore, the chattering effects are also overcome using proposed controller. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed control scheme.
