ESPÉCIES BOTÂNICAS UTILIZADAS NO ARTESANATO COMERCIALIZADO NA CIDADE DE ALTAMIRA-PA

The diversity of tree species that exists in the Amazon region is immense, making essential knowledge of each species to ensure the conservation and preservation of biodiversity, and the development of economic activities. This study aimed to identify the plant species most used in crafts city of Altamira and characterization of the collection and processing procedures adopted by the artisans. For application form and interview, two associations of craftsmen were visited. As a result, 48 species were found, identified 34 and 14 indeterminate. Among the identified families, highlights were: Fabaceae, Arecaceae and Lecythidaceae. As the processes of collection, processing and storage of seeds, the institutions presented techniques acquired over time occupation. Keywords: Seeds; non-timber forest products; NTFP; handicrafts.
