The ophthalmologist and narcolepsy, or why are so many ophthalmologists caught napping?

MANY NARCOLEPTIC PATIENTS FIRST SEEK HELP FROM AN OPHTHALMOLOGIST BEcause of symptoms of tired eyes, fatigue, and difficulty in reading. The purpose of this paper is to review some germane findings about narcolepsy and to report a series of patients with this disorder who first presented to the Department of Ophthalmology at the Mayo Clinic. We believe the eye physician must be alert and sensitive to the possibility of this entity.
