Design and Implementation of High-Speed Optical Network Using MEMS Optical Switch

A new structure for 1 Gbps optical interconnection network has been designed using micro-electromechanical systems(MEMS)-based all optical switch and full bandwidth PCI interface cards.PCI has interface peak transmission rate is 132 M bytes/s.Optical signal transmission rate can be more than 1 Gbps.MEMS-based all optical switch utilizes the latest MEMS technology to provide strictly non-blocking photonic switching of fiber-optic traffic.All-optical approach eliminates the need for optical-to-electrical conversions, providing switching solutions that are independent of wavelength, data rate, and signal format.Based on this structure,it is maximal to decrease latency of network and overhead of communication. Then the network performance of cluster system is improved infinitely.
