The article presents an analysis over the main maturity
models for project management, which are OPM3 (Organizational
Project Management Maturity Model), PMMM (Project Management
Maturity Model), MMGP (Maturity Model for Project Management) and
the maturity process of project management into COBIT (Control
Objectives for Information and related Technology). The study aims
at analyzing the applicability of the maturity models for project
management at organizations. The research work was carried out by
an exploratory and qualitative study using semi-structured
interviews with field experts. The analysis results point out to
the recognition of the role of maturity models for managing
projects, highlighting the possibility of driving actions for
continuous improvements over the processes of project management,
considering factors such as organizational culture and structure,
communication and strategic and tactical sponsorship.
