Screw compressor is widely used in refrigeration and air compression system. The performance of a screw compressor depends on a large number of design parameters such as rotor profile, number of rotor lobe, geometrical clearances, wrap angle, discharge port size, and etc. Understanding the effect of these parameters is important for design and diagnosis of screw compressors. In this research, simulation program of a screw compressor is developed to study the effect of leakage through interlobe clearance, rotor tip clearance and superheat generated by the motor. Volumetric efficiency and adiabatic efficiency for a sample rotor are demonstrated for various leakage areas and degrees of superheat.
