The measurement method of ankle joint position sense based on three-dimensional posture of the ankle

In the ankle rehabilitation, the functional instability of the ankle is very important. Due to this functional instability of the ankle resulted in difference of the ankle joint position sense (AJPS), and to induce a recurrent ankle sprain. In order to evaluate the functional instability of the ankle, we proposed a method using the three-dimensional posture of the ankle to measure the AJPS. The three-dimensional posture acquisition system are used based on the structured light projection technique, witch is performed by using digital still camera and DLP projector. The feature is easily to solve correspondence between the projection pattern and camera captured image. The feet put on the ankle measuring device, and to adjust their posture of the ankle. The AJPS should be to measure by comparing the actual posture and recognized posture. Experimental results show, the three-dimensional posture of the ankle is reconstructed less then 0.5mm accuracy and the AJPS can be evaluated using three-dimensional posture. In addition, for the functional instability diagnose of the ankle and its rehabilitation will be providing an effective platform.
