Segmentation in Chinese natural language understanding using a massively parallel approach (abstract)

I n t r o d u c t i o n One of the main difficulties in Chinese natural language understanding is the problem of segmentation (dividing a sentence into its component words). The Chinese language is based on ideographic characters with no inflections for word boundaries. Each character may be a word by itself or may be conibined with neighbori.g, cha,;~c~ers.
