Too much pm creativity kills your project

Abstract One question these companies have to face is the contradiction between individual freedom in applying project management and the call for guidelines and standards to perform medium and long-term processes of high complexity within the company. Based on project management competences which are clearly ifferentiated into individual, team andd organisational project management competence, the paper shows how these concepts are linked together to support creative project solutions. We will differentiate project management creativity and creativity regarding the contents of a project. Today project-oriented companies are seeking for organisational project management competence in establishing structures like the PM-Office, which is responsible for the further development of the project management process, project management guidelines and standards, the development of a common project management language and culture in a company. So far most of the project-oriented companies do not have enough supporting structures and the “pm creativity” that happens in a project endangers the contents work in the project. Project management shall support the creativity in the contents work getting high quality project results. Creativity in projects can be supported by a process-oriented project management approach, that allows a holistic view on the project.
