Dealing with Vibration Problems of a Fume Turbine's Rotor by Using an Electromagnetic Active Balancing Device

The possibility of on line easing a fume turbine's undue vibration,by means of mounting an active balancing device on its rotor, has been explored. For the purpose of practical application,a two stage cantilever fume turbine of a certain oil refinery was taken as an example for conducting a finite element analysis. The active balancing device's axial position and its required maximal balancing capability was then ascertained by comparing the balancing effect in four different single and three different double planes.Simulated probation finally showed that the fume turbine's vibration at operating speed can effectively be reduced by using an active balancing device.Study results may serve as a reference for mounting and testing such a balancing device on rotors of fume turbines.
