Plunger lift benefits Southeast New Mexico operator : Artificial lift

Development of the Eumont gas play in Lea County, New Mexico, encountered unacceptably high operating costs. Two major issues in producing low-pressure gas wells are connate-water and proppant production. Initially, beam pumps were used once loadup occurred. However, sand production and low fluid volumes led to the evaluation of plunger lift as an alternative. Operating costs were reduced by 70% during the 21/2-year implementation period.
