With the rapid development and introduction of web technologies in teaching and learning fields, the transformation of essential concepts of learning and teaching techniques has been gaining a great deal of attention among foreign language educators recently. This paper analyzes the current Chinese e-learning sites in order to draw out their features as effective and efficient learning environments based on the nine key principles of one theory of constructivism, situated learning theory: authentic contexts, authentic activities, expert performance, multiple perspectives, reflection, collaboration, articulation, coaching and scaffolding, and authentic assessment. This paper also suggests concrete design framework for developing e-Learning sites for Chinese language learning purposes.
