Theoretical Approaches to Adaptation to Antarctica and Space

The many general similarities in the factors governing life science research in the Antarctic and space suggest that each environment might serve the other as an analogue. Both environments seem destined in the near and intermediate future for increased exploration. This destiny is generated by strategic considerations of commerce, science, defense, and politics. To accomplish such strategies, each environment must be tamed, so that humans see them as increasingly friendly, inviting, and commonplace rather than unruly, foreboding, and alien.
