3 – Boiler Processes

This chapter goes through various subprocesses that form the boiler. It starts by presenting how one proceeds in selecting a boiler to fulfill the desired requirements. It then explains how a boiler’s main parameters affect the thermal performance of a steam generator. A full discussion of main heat transfer surfaces is followed by an explanation of how heat loads to them can be estimated. Main steam generator subprocesses are described and their role is explained. Finally the determination of boiler efficiency is explained in detail.
