Sequential Multi-Scale Modelling Concepts Applied to the Polyurethane Foaming Process

Abstract Simulation-based design of processes and products are dependent on having access to accurate physical parameters in order to provide definite predictions. The purpose of multi-scale modelling is to compute parameters in the macro-scale model based on first principles. Here we present an overview of some general concepts relevant to sequential multi-scale modelling, as implemented in the MoDeNa multi-scale software framework, as well as an example where a large number of scale-specific models are interconnected to form a multi-scale model of the polyurethane foaming process.
